Create a Morning You Love BEFORE 2025
Nov 26, 2024If you're feeling rushed and unmotivated in the morning, it might not be you—it might be your morning routine. Let’s dive into creating a morning routine that you'll love before 2025 hits. I'm your host and soon-to-be BFF, Karen Wilson, and on this episode of Creative Life in Motion, we’re focusing on falling in love with who we are along the way, not just when we reach our goals.
If your mornings don't feel off, then you probably already have a solid routine. Morning routines are essentially doing the same things in the same order every day. But it’s important to ask, “Is my morning routine helping me or hurting me?” Our needs can change with different seasons of our lives. For instance, I have a different routine in winter than I do in summer due to the varying daylight hours.
Today, let’s experiment with finding what lights your fire in the morning. We’re doing something a bit different—using the Sacred Self-Care Oracle deck by Jill Pyle. I haven’t pulled from this deck in a while, and I thought it would be fun to integrate some of these self-care suggestions into our routines.
As we go through this blog, remember this doesn’t have to be done in the morning. Many successful people recommend starting your day by filling your cup, and I do subscribe to that philosophy. If you already have a routine that works for you, no need to change it, but you might find something new to add from these cards.
Common Morning Challenges
I know for me, I often get distracted by my phone first thing. I wear an Oura ring that tracks my sleep, and my first instinct is to check how well I slept. But it’s easy to get sidetracked by the YouTube, social media, or email apps. Other habits like skipping breakfast can also throw off my morning. Intermittent fasting is fine when planned, but sometimes I’ll find myself starving and rushing to eat before a virtual meeting.
Designing Your Ideal Morning Routine
Let’s talk about key elements for a morning routine: reflection, movement, and nourishment. For me, journaling or writing down my thoughts can make room for more important things in my mind. A consistent routine can increase clarity, energy, motivation, and overall well-being.
Pulling from the Oracle Deck
Card 1: Alone Time Let’s start by adding alone time to our morning routines. Just a few minutes to focus on yourself can make a huge difference. Here’s a mantra for you: "I make time to focus on myself." How does having alone time make you feel? What emotions and memories come up?
Card 2: Sync with the Moon Syncing with the moon can add an interesting element. Check where the moon is each day, maybe during your journaling or alone time. Understanding where you are in your cycle or in relation to the moon can provide deeper insights into your energy and emotions. The mantra for this is: "I embrace my ebb and flow, my many phases and the cycles of life."
Card 3: Ground Yourself Finally, grounding yourself helps you stay present. Feel your body connect with the earth and visualize what you want to feel. The mantra for this is: "I am grounded, stable, and strong." This can be done through meditation, prayer, or simple visualization.
Practical Tips for Your Morning Routine
Start small and focus on one thing at a time. Maybe it’s just adding one new activity. Be prepared the night before so you can set yourself up for success. Call your routine something that excites you—like a “superstack” to give you that extra motivation. Keep track of your progress through journaling or using an activity tracker.
As we head towards 2025, let’s commit to making our mornings meaningful. What does a meaningful morning mean to you? For me, it’s about feeling amazing and energized. Remember, it’s individualized, so find what works for you and tweak it as needed.
Let’s embrace alone time, sync with the moon, and ground ourselves throughout 2025. Allow yourself the time and space to prioritize these moments.
Thank you so much for spending this time with me. I can't wait to hear how these tips transform your morning routine. See you in the next episode!
